VINCE BODIFORD – is the founder and chief automotive and features editor of The Weekend Drive®. Based in the Detroit area, Vince is a 25-year automotive enthusiast journalist, and he is a well-established newspaper executive, which is his profession. His automotive features have appeared around the world. He attends many major motor shows, road-tests over 50 new vehicles a year, and is a contributor to many media outlets. He is a member of the Motor Press Guild – Los Angeles, Automotive Press Association – Detroit, co-founder of the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press – Denver. He won the championship with Price Cobb for Porsche of the 1994 Cannonball One Lap of America. He has attended many professional driving schools, including the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving, The Bridgestone Winter Driving Academy, The SAAB Academy, The Bridgestone Racing Academy, and the Danny McKeever Fast Lane Racing School.
JAY WENTZ – is our Editor in Chief and manages the business affairs of The Weekend Drive®. Jay was born into a NASCAR racing family. He spent his youth on the racing circuit with his dad, Pee Wee Wentz, Sr. When Pee Wee retired from the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, Jay’s automotive career was under way, at just 18-years old he built a 1955 Chevy that was featured on the cover of Popular Hot Rodding. Jay was a regular on-air personality of Street Rodder TV which aired on ESPN2. Today Jay is based deep in the heart of NASCAR country – and from his Danville, Virginal-based Speed Metal Garage business, he pursues his passion for racing, custom and hot rod cars, new car road testing and more. He is also member of the Motor Press Guild.
JASON BAEDKE – is our motorcycle road test writer. He attended the California Supebike School, and he is an accomplished “canyon carver.” He is a daily motorcycle rider, and he has years of riding experience and in the motorcycle world. Based in Southern California, Jason tests great motorcycles on great roads, such as Topanga Canyon, Mulholland Drive, Pacific Coast Highway, Angeles Crest Highway, Ortega Highway and closed tracks. His current motorcycles are a 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 (in the photo), 2013 Yamaha YZF-R6 (track bike).
EZEKIEL WHEELER – is a member of our automotive editors team. For over a decade, Ezekiel has been reporting on automotive culture and industry dynamics from around the globe. He attended the world famous Art Center College of Design to study transportation design and soon applied his skills acquired there toward the automotive journalism industry. His work has been featured across many internationally recognized publications such as European Car, Robb Report, Petrolicious, Gestalten Publications, and his own petrol infused content destination – Automotive Conduct. He is has been a member of the Motor Press Guild since 2010 and won several SEMA Design Awards for commissioned project cars since he was sixteen. Today, he resides in Los Angeles, California and has recently become the proud father of his newborn daughter, Senna Wheeler. Whom he hopes will rise to international racing glory much like the legend she was named after.
SUE MEAD – is our contributing automotive and travel writer. Sue’s automotive career began as a freelance evaluator for Four Wheeler magazine in 1988, on the first team that included women as testers. Today, she travels the globe test-driving cars and trucks, and working as a photojournalist and feature writer for dozens of publications, specializing in 4WD and adventure. Mead has been an auto editor and 4WD editor for CNN/fn. Her books include Monster Trucks and Tractors; Off Road Racing, Legends and Adventures, and Rock Crawling. Sue has traveled to 70 countries; and she has driven enough off-road and 4WD race miles to have circumnavigated the globe twice. Mead won the Open Production class at the 2011 Dakar, and she is an inductee into the Off Road Motorsports Hall of Fame.
JOE MAVILIA – is our Editor-at-Large and a syndicated columnist with over 40 years in the automotive industry. He was president of the world’s largest automotive distribution company, and he sponsored a Formula Atlantic racing team. For over a decade, he co-owned La Canada, California based G&I Sports Cars, a Southern-California based European car repair business specializing in nameplates such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and more. He is a member of the Motor Press Guild and his review column An Automotive Love Affair® has been published for over 17 years. We might as well come clean… Joe is also Vince’s uncle, mentor and dear friend.
PHIL SHUYLER – is the producer and worldwide distributor of The Weekend Drive® video and television segments. All video content featuring Vince Bodiford and The Weekend Drive brand are products of Phil Shuyler’s Orchard Entertainment. Orchard Entertainment produces and distributes a wide variety of travel and automotive video and television content.
BILL KELLER – June 20, 1950 – May 24, 2015. Remembering and honoring our friend Bill Keller. For over a decade, Bill was the webmaster and online editor of The Weekend Drive® as it developed from its early stages to the global digital media outlet that it is today. Bill was a friend and frequent consultant, and we are deeply grateful for his friendship and contributions.
THE WEEKEND DRIVE was founded by Vince Bodiford in 1992 as “At the Wheel,” a weekly syndicated automotive newspaper feature which he wrote. In 1999, it was rebranded to be known as The Weekend Drive, and this automotive enthusiast website was launched. The Weekend Drive was among the very first automotive websites at the time, and it grew quickly to become a popular automotive review website. The feature still appears occasionally in newspapers as an automotive feature, but its main North American audience is served by this website. The Weekend Drive owned by Golden Media, Inc.
