Loewe’s Santa Monica Beach Hotel… escape the ordinary
SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Poised just steps from the silky sands of the Pacific Ocean, the unique LoewsSanta MonicaBeach hotel invites guests to escape more than the background noise of the everyday rush — here, you escape the ordinary, to a place awash with an individual character and charm not found elsewhere on this famous strand of beach.
Loews Santa Monica Hotel speaks for itself from the time you arrive at the front doors to the time you leave. Upon your arrival, valet service is at your car door immediately to collect your bags and park your car. Once you walk in through the huge rotating door you are taken to a magical place lined with palm trees leading you to a wall full of glass windows so you can see forever out onto the ocean. And you haven’t even seen the start of things.
On the main floor with the lobby sits a nice little Papillion bar with a fireplace and plenty of comfortable chairs to relax in. Just out the doors sits the heated lap pool and Jacuzzi with chaise lounge chairs and a cabana nearby to service your every need. Back inside the hotel we discovered Lavande, the signature restaurant of the resort, which serves a variety of award winning feasts sure to make your mouth water. After you enjoy a lovely meal you could easily escape for a nice walk on one of the several walking/jogging trails or along the beach, which are both located within yards of the hotel. The Santa Monica Pier, PalisadesPark, and the Third Street Promenade are also very close by.
Now comes one of my favorite features of the hotel. The 6,000 square-foot spa located adjacent to the lobby was enough to get my heart pumping, literally. The Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel was voted by Men’s Fitness magazine as one of the Top Ten hotel gyms in America. I totally agree with this rating. The fitness room consists of rows of bikes, treadmills, and cross trainers. On the opposite side of the room was just about every kind of weight machine you could imagine, as well as dumbbells. While working out, you could watch TV to pass the time, read a magazine, or watch passersby on Ocean Avenue. It was the perfect workout environment. This spa contains a full-service beauty salon, steam and dry saunas, showers, and locker rooms. They also offer six treatment rooms for dry and wet massages and a fitness studio for yoga and pilates. Guests can enjoy beverages, buy spa products, or just relax while visiting the spa center as well. Memberships can be bought to enjoy this wondering spa facility even without staying here.
Now that we have made our way off the main floor we can explore our room. As you step off onto the balcony you take in the fresh ocean air as you watch the waves roll in with their soothing sounds — the sun warms your face. The guest rooms are decorated with modern furniture, a wet bar, and everything else you need to feel at home. The bathroom is equipped with a spacious shower, deep bathtub, a color television to watch while bathing, and also plush waffle-cloth bathrobes to wrap yourself in afterwards.
This hotel would definitely make a good home away from home. It’s received numerous awards for its dining pleasures, spa, and the hotel for good reason – it’s earned them. And if you’ve earned a beachside escape, head straight for the Loewe’s Santa Monica Beach Hotel… you will not be disappointed.
