2003 Lincoln LS -- In the world of luxury automobiles, comfort is king.

No drive is enjoyable if you just can't get comfortable, and in the LS you have missed a control or feature somewhere if you are uncomfortable. The driver's seating area features an 8-way adjustable power seat, power lumbar, power adjustable pedals, and a power tilt/telescopic steering wheel. A 6-way power seat is standard for the passenger side and our model featured heat or cooling to the perforated leather seats. Dual zoned climate control is standard, adding up to a most pleasant motoring experience.
Our LS was equipped with the optional DVD navigation system and Lucasfilms THX TM certified premium sound. We loaded six CD's into the concealed disc changer, accessible by a button which electrically lifts the DVD nav screen to reveal the loading slot.....the sound quality was excellent, and a menu to the left of the touch screen allows access to audio and DVD nav controls.
We put my coffee mug and my wife's bottled water into the handy console inserts, started the LS, pulled the 5-speed automatic Select Shift into D5 and drove away. This transmission also allows manual shifting, if desired through an up/down sequence on the shifter.
We were driving the LS Premium Sport Package and averaged 23.1 mpg. We had 280 horses on tap with our 3.9 liter DOHC V-8.

A luxury sport sedan, the rear wheel drive Lincoln LS was first introduced as a 2000 model in 1999, and for 2003 more than 500 LS parts are new or redesigned for more horsepower and torque, improved refinement and greater comfort and convenience. Satin nickle accents and tasteful touches of American burl wood grace the interior, with all controls within easy reach of the driver.
This was fun motoring and we spent two days getting to know, and love, this car. We tested Interstate freeways, state two-lane highways, gravel and muddy county roads. The car never disappointed. Steering was responsive and the suspension soaked up the major bumps that were dealt our way. The traction control activated more than a few times in some slick muddy spots and when accelerating on gravel roads. The Advance-Trac TM vehicle stability enhancement system is standard on the premium sport edition.

EDITORS COMMENTS:
"The Lincoln LS is smart choice among premuim sport luxury brands. It's styling is bold for Lincoln and a hint of the look of things to come, which is great news. Not new to the market, it's a brand that is building a following and is worthy of wearing the Lincoln nameplate." -- Vince Bodiford
