PROJECT CAR: 1974 Chevrolet Nova SS Tribute

GALLERY

Chevrolet Super-Sport "tribute" cars are selling on the collector market for about 75% of the prices of factory SS cars. So, its beginning to make sense to add the SS treatment to certain cars, like this 1974 Chevrolet Nova, which we've chosen as our project to demonstrate first-hand how a clean muscle car is converted from standard livery to the much desirable "SS".

During this project, we will transform this 1974 Chevrolet Nova hatchback into the SS-version of the same car. Chevrolet actually did make the SS in the hatchback form this year, so its the perfect candidate. With some mild modernization to the chassis and interior, the car will look and drive like a Super Sport when complete.

It's equipped with the three-speed manual transmission, power steering, power brakes, and the "custom" trim package with black vinyl interior.

We've identified the major key areas that we'll be covering and featuring during this project:

CHASSIS & SUSPENSION:

Wheels & Tires - Rally wheels and new performance radial tires.

Brakes - we'll be converting the brakes to 4-wheel disc brakes.

Suspension - ride quality and handling will be improved with new springs and shocks.

UNDERHOOD:

We'll "wake up" the engine with correct performance enhancements.

INTERIOR & TRIM:

A complete new interior, and all correct SS badges, will be added.

BODY, PAINT & TRIM:

A color change may be in order while its being resprayed; all molding will be replaced, and all correct factory SS exterior badging will be added.

PROJECT PARTNERS:
We'll be adding information and reviews of products and equipment furnished for this project vehicle as they arrive from our project partners.
